GOOD NEWS FOR MODERN MAN
Romans 1:16,17
Part One
In
the next two pen pulpits we are going to take one last look at verses 16 and 17
in our study of Romans 1. I call this
message GOOD NEWS FOR MODERN MAN. We are going to examine the Gospel of
Jesus Christ.
In
part one, I would like to examine the gospel from two vantage points.
Next
week we will take up the wonderful subject of the Righteousness of God.
The
COMPONENTS of the Gospel – or what IS the Gospel?
Gospel
means “Good News” – so what is the good news of Jesus Christ?
I Corinthians 15:1-5
• Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures – and was
burried (point of confirmation – burial confirms His death) cf Isa 53:6; Psalm
22.
• Christ was raised from the dead according to the Scriptures and was
seen by many (point of confirmation – “seen by many” confirms His
resurrection). Psalm 16:8ff; Hosea 6:2.
So
the components of the gospel are two-fold:
Christ died
for our sins according to the Old Testament Scriptures. He was raised from the dead according to the
Old Testament Scriptures. THE GOSPEL IS NOTHING MORE THAN THAT; IT IS NOTHING LESS THAN THAT; IT IS ONLY
THAT!

The
CAPACITY of the Gospel - or what the gospel IS .
Why
was Paul not ashamed of the Gospel?
These
terms have tremendous significance to God’s people and if you haven’t put your
faith in the Risen Christ as your Savior from sin yet, now would be an
excellent time to do it as you may not have another chance. Continue to read Romans daily. God bless!
